History

1970

Sam Concelman Sr. and his cousin, Rick, leased a gas and service station from Pennzoil. At this time, the building had gas pumps in front of the building and only one car lift in the garage.

1979

Around 1979, Sam Sr and his partner moved to a larger building and Sam’s brother-in-law Ed Borgen took over the Glenshaw Pennzoil.

1981

In 1981, Sam Concelman Jr. was in high school. He began working at the garage pumping gas and working on cars.

1985

In 1985, Ed bought the gas and service station from Pennzoil, when the corporation decided to get out of the gasoline business. As part of the transition, Pennzoil removed the gas pumps and left the service station.

Meanwhile, during this time, both Sam Sr. and Sam Jr. worked at a local Toyota dealership as a Service Technician and Collision Technician, respectively.

1992

In 1992, Sam Sr. and Sam Jr. become co-owners of Glenshaw Auto Service Inc., purchasing it from Ed Borgen. In the two-bay garage, they provided both mechanical repairs and auto body work.

1995

In 1995, they renovated the garage, adding a second car lift to the existing bay and expanding the building to add two more garage bays for auto body work.

Over time, the garage transitioned away from auto body work and focused more on auto repairs. Additional lifts were purchased and placed into the bays in the expansion.

2006

In 2006, they renovated the garage again, this time focusing on making the office and waiting area more welcoming spaces for customers. At the same time, Sam Concelman Sr. decided to take a step back, reducing his involvement to working only part time in the garage. Sam Jr. stepped up and took over day-to-day management.

2008

By 2008, Glenshaw Auto Service Inc. had continued to grow, and needed more space for the large, modern equipment needed for tire alignments and other processes. They bought a satellite garage location down the street on Mt. Royal Boulevard and began renovations.

2013

The satellite garage opened for business in 2013.

In 2013, Sam Sr. took a well-deserved retirement from working at the garage, leaving full ownership and direction of the business with his son, Sam Jr.

Since then, Sam Concelman Jr. and his wife, Lori, have continued to manage Glenshaw Auto Service Inc. in a family-focused way.
